Beware Youngstown and Dayton these guys are not intersted in racing or promoting it. They have chased off fans from Beulah Park by letting the facility deteroriate.

I was hoping the new tracks would follow the Indiana Down model. However not to be.

Sad. But predictable.

Is there really a market for racing in Ohio anymore?

$26 for two crab cakes, two cooked baby carrots, and two small spoonfuls of mashed potatoes (all of which covers maybe half the plate) with two rolls and no soup or side salad..... the last thing mahoning valley needs is a pen gaming dining room.

and with $6 poker rake plus bad beat and zero comps, mahoning valley doesn't really need a pen gaming casino either.

Is there really a market for racing in Ohio anymore?Of course there is. Why wouldn't there be? But for 15 years, track operators have pleaded for slots facilities to keep up with neighboring states, and have performed at subpar levels in order to help make the case that slots are needed. Every penny-pinching effort that drives casual fans away is considered successful from this point of view.

The potential market is out there, but it's been abused for too long. The initial success of Scioto is a good omen, though. Expect a good year from Thistle and Northfield (non-Penn entities). And River will eventually become an entertainment destination.
