Shame on golf commentators who have skirted the issue of Mcllroy's truthfullness about the walk-off. In their eagerness to cast him as the congenial anti-tiger, most gave him a pass for first stating there was nothing wrong physically, but later citing a sore wisdom tooth. It was a classless move to leave the course for a guy not QUITE as young as the talking heads imply, and with enough experience in the spotlight to realize he was obligated to stick it out.

And please, less patter about his towering ability and more about his pattern of inconsistency.

Rory is a great golfer....when he's great.

But fame, $, and success often changes people who were once appealing into being "dicks."
Rory's head has been growing for awhile.
He fired his manager Chubby Chandler, dumped his Irish girlfriend, and took up with tennis star Caroline Wozniacki. Reports are the meltdown of that relationship may be behind his recent behavior.

When fans attend a tournament they pay good money to view these pros.
The least they, and his playing partners deserved was an explanation of why he was pulling up and leaving the course.
But once again, we're witnessing a different generation of entitlement oriented players.
Can you imagine Arnold, Jack, or Gary Player behaving in such a way?
Nope. They had class. A rare commodity in sports nowadays.

I can't understand why commentators avoid this kind of stuff. Since when does controversy hurt ratings?

That was a lame move by Rory.

Showed immaturity, and his age is no excuse for that.
Hopefully, he learns from the experience.
