How are you going about measuring the effectiveness of your line verse the morning line?

I'll be recording Final Tote Odds for these picks, and calculate an Excel "Correlation" number for MoLine vs Actual odds and Robot's predicted odds vs Actual Odds. It's a measure of the variance to see which line more closely resembles the final odds. I'll need to have a couple hundred picks before I start including the Correlation numbers, till then I'll just list the ROI performance.

Ok roy, I will go back to posting as before, maybe not as frequently.

I've tried before to come up with a robot that can get close to predicting final odds. I've posted a poll here on ML influential factors and even gave away a spreadsheet in this Forum that varies factor weights and produces a line but always to no avail.

The only conclusion I can come to is that the major influence on the final odds does not come from the past performance lines or information found in the program. OK for horses... but any attempt to use that info to handicap the crowd is a fool's errand.

The rub is... the Morning Line Rank has the 2nd largest impact value on my robots ROI performance, (Final tote board odds rank is largest, no surprise there) and if one can do better ranking the entries chance to win than the Morning Line does, it should increase profits. The only alternative to sit constantly at the computer and watch the board, and frankly after 35 years of watching these horses go around in circles, ...I'm getting a bit tired of it.

Great minds think alike eh pk? :)

But typical of how far off the robot's lines were compared to the crowd. Computer had "Catch The Rapids" at 3/2 and predicted the board at 5/2 based on Top 3 TM class and speed and good 1/2 pole calls last 5 of 6 races, and he goes off a longshot 10/1 ?. BTW, your comments were 'right on' but seems the crowd went for the 1 or 3 at 6/5 and ignored him. Maybe this happens (more than chance would have it) when there are 2 co-faves?
