Is it a popular sport in the US?

I'm asking because the World Championships are taking place in Louisville next week. Most people who follow the sport seem to find it an odd choice - but maybe it's an up and coming sport in the US?

Hmmm .... not so many replies ;)

I guess it's not that popular in the US.

The main event has been brought forward by the way, and will take place tomorrow.

Open race, the Belgian team should dominate, Dutch rider Van Der Haar best of the rest. Although there's usually an unexpected rider that does well, too.

I'm sure its pretty popular, just not with the Horse Racing Demographic, like Horse Racing isn't wildly popular with the young 18-35 demographic.

gaining in popularity rapidly, esp on the west coast. we have a local series that is doing really well and I know that the Bay Area and Oregon are doing great. it is excellent off season training (for us road racers). nothing better on a rainy day than hosing off the old x-bike and doing a few laps at the local course. good luck to all the racers today!!
