Ellen McClain, the chief operating officer and president of the New York Racing Association, announced at the association’s full board meeting Friday in Manhattan that she has submitted her resignation but will stay on during a “transitional period” as the association searches for a chief executive.

McClain, 48, announced her decision at the tail end of a 15-minute presentation on NYRA’s future plans. Her voice cracked as she briefly announced her resignation to the board. The board’s chairman, David Skorton, then thanked McClain for her service and announced that a search for a chief executive would be “expedited.”

Question was asked at the meeting what is the job of Ellen now.....the answer was;

"Ellen McClain, who is the current chief operating officer and President of the New York Racing Association has not changed with this Board."

The Board will start the search for a new COO and President as of this meeting and Ellen McClain stated she would be on the job until at least March 31st 2013 to help with a smooth transfer of Office.

Also, during this meeting a person asked if a committee could be made up to study the possiblity to keep Aqueduct open for racing.

Bobby Flay responded to that question: Mr Flay talked about Saratoga and how beautiful it is there. He tallked about Belmont and how vast it is. And suggested developments be made at these tracks, because they are "old" and in every other sport, they upgrade their places or build new ones every 10 - 15 years.
He added that he brings 10 -12 people to Saratoga every year, most of them have never been to a track before... explains the ins and outs ..etc and they get hooked. But NYRA needs to get these two tracks upgraded so they are a destination place for people to go to.

He sugguested an architech draw up a new Belmont with shopping malls and fancy eating establishments, and classy bars... all high in stuff.

That was knocked out ..someone stated drawing plans have been on the drawing board for years.. they thought the Casino operator would cover the cost... but that fell thru... Belmont is leased from the State of New York and at the end of the lease there possibly would be nothing.

NOT ONCE did Bobby Flay mention AQUEDCT in his response.

On twitter I read where she is going to sue NYRA with the former COO and Legal counsel.......... over what I have no idea. It's hard to keep track without a program..............and half the shit you read on twitter is wrong........
