According to the NY Daily News , the attendance at Turf Paradise on Tuesday was 1158 ,with the on track handle being $41,105. Each patron musta only bet one race :D Or they must have 10 cent everything there. Maybe even 10 cent admission. :faint:

Because TuP is one of the most profitable tracks available for wagering.

Betfair market matched should be divided by 2 to compare with parimutuel handle because they count the stake of both backer and layer.

The Betfair total matched is also a little deceptive because a large portion of it is trading. If I match 1000 back on horse #2 to win 1000 if the horse places 1st, someone else matches 1000 lay on horse #2 to win 1000 if the horse does not place 1st. They count that as 2000 matched. Now if both counter parties make the exact opposite bets with each other (the backer lays and the layer backs at the same odds as before), they both even out and are risking 0 to win 0 and an additional 2000 is reported as being matched. So you have $4000 matched and total risk is 0, total reward is 0, and commission generated will be 0.

The point is that while Betfair numbers seem impressive on the surface, they are a bit deceptive.
