This Constitution, and the Laws of the United States which shall be made in Pursuance thereof; and all Treaties made, or which shall be made, under the Authority of the United States, shall be the supreme Law of the Land; and the Judges in every State shall be bound thereby, any Thing in the Constitution or Laws of any State to the Contrary notwithstanding.

The lawmaker specifically addresses that point. He wants a challenge

When state law conflicts with federal law, federal law takes prescient whenever the feds want to make an issue of it . We fought a war about this a long time ago. Texas keeps forgetting they were on the losing side in that war. Wyoming forgot what they agreed to when they became state. Anybody that thinks the army won't enforce federal law if called on is as dumb as Gov Ross Barnett was in 1962.

Or as dumb as this guy, who gave this speech 50 years ago yesterday. Another guy who gave the finger to the federal government and wound up on the wrong side of history. He spent his last years in a wheelchair begging civil rights leaders and activists to forgive him for his sins:

Any politician who proposes something like this is simply pandering to what he thinks is an uneducated electorate.

Which, coincidentally, is the entire Obama philosophy.
Don't believe me, hcap is the one who said so.

Look, a bunch of farmers gave the King of the British Empire the finger once. It is sometimes deserved. Our Fed deserves it. Our Fed is deserving of no respect. Our Fed has outlived its usefulness.

Really?!?...

I'll draw you a picture and upload it in the morning. You quoted me and then used the word "hypocrisy." The dictionary defines hypocrisy thus.

The practice of professing beliefs, feelings, or virtues that one does not hold or possess.

So exactly what beliefs, feelings, or virtues have I professed in that post, or for that matter, any of my posts, that you have evidence I do not actually hold or possess?

You brought the indictment. Now make your case.

Overall this was pretty well played by Obama. Gun owners and the NRA are going to get better enforcement of existing laws via executive order and he is going to punt to congress on the rest.

Congress will probably close the private party loophole and that will be the end of it.
