race 1: an enigmatic maiden. (3)CORLET DRIVE is improving fast ins the morning

1.15.0 > 1.14.2 > 1.12.2 (10 lengths in just 1 week)

and could have already enough stamina to get in the money.

place/show

race 2: Bred for dirt,(5)RUN CAPTIVE RUN beat 10 rivals in her polytrack debut, with the third 3,5 lengths behind, and her workouts are much better with that race under her belt training over Santa Anita dirt track

48.3 > 48.0 > 47.1 (best of 82)

She should beat this weak field

win

1st ($4.60 - 3.80 - 2.20)

race 3: a fantastic race but a tough call. They were too bold rising (5)CASTLETOWN from a first level allowance to a grade 1, but the horse ran great against a top class field. Now after a deserved 3 months layoff the horse seems ready to roll (59 flat best of 91) over a surface (dirt) he's bred for but unexposed, and the drop in class is huge. The money is pouring towards (7)Midnight Transfer, but I stick with CASTLETOWN speed.

3rd ($3.40)

the money was right and the winner looked like a grade 1 horse

1 neck short... Turning FH
That horse is caught in a trick bag. Late closing sprinters are a trainers nightmare.I would venture to guess that the horse is a bad bleeder. On to the next, taking a break and will join back in the 5th. Looking forward to a sloppy Delta.

race 4: this is a puzzle. (1)BATTI MAN could be the speed of the field, comes from a tougher race with a sharp workout, maybe the key question is that the horse ability is for this 32.000 level, not Optional allowances. With a top frontrunning jockey...

race 5: another enigmatic race. Speedy (1)NO COMMITMENTS moves from polytrack to Santa Anita speed friendly dirt, from Edwin Flores to magic Kubinova, and cuts back from 7 to 5,5f. She's a 12-1 frontrunning shot in an undecipherable heat, for a barn (Diodoro Robertino) who is heating up after a cold spell.

not enough magic to wake up a living dead...

race 6: (12)LORD OF BALLANDRAE is by good turf sire Mr Greeley (nš 32 in the Top 150 Turf Sires) out of a broodmare side of good turf runners. The colt shows sharp workouts since september. Hector Palma can have a ready debutant ( won big with one a few days ago here).

trifecta:
(12)LORD OF BALLANDRAE - (10)WINE LIST - ALL

exacta:
(10)WINE LIST - (12)Lord of Ballandrae.

I am tending to and hoping to think the :5: Guilt Trip gets the trip here and stretches out. The pedigree seems very long.

Any thought on Green Rosy Spaniard. Very French. Animal looks to have come out of the race well. The hanger is why did Rafael B gets caught with Drysdale.
Solving the Baffert angle is puzzling here. I am wondering if the lack of quality pace animals might allow Talamo to get him in the race early and have the bottom to get home. The Discovery was a throw to the wolf call IMO and he might be coming into his own. Just a thought as I love the Quiet American.
The :10: looks outstanding and this is the same route as Tapitzar as Blasi looks to have this guy prepped.

"All the things that start well finish wrong,
things that start wrong finish well."

from the Spanish gypsy lore

race 7. THE SAN FERNANDO STAKES: (9)TRIBAL JEWEL won a mile ran at a crazy pace (22 flat > 45 flat) first time blinkers. He's undefeated routing in Santa Anita. That hard race did not affected the horse who worked out a fast 47.2 just 7 days later. The horse to beat for me, more so with a bunch of Baffert horses in the field (a guarantee of quick pace). (1)Battle Force has class, his best speed figure was on synthetics, but he coul be better over dirt.

win & exacta box

NP

the soft pace (23.3 > 47.1...) destroyed all my thesis, Mike Smith put on a master ride, as usual in graded stakes races.

I had praised Fed Biz last year and gave up on him and cost me a tri. Backed the pools to place and show and should do alright with hedging. Tritap and Guilt Trip are aptly named as I tapped for the tri and feeling guilty for giving up Fed Biz.   The :5: :10: are gonna make some noise in the Big Cap.

DAILY DOUBLE

race 8: (9)SWEET SWAP is learning his job as a turf sprinter. He's got good tactical speed and strong closing acceleration. The horse to beat.

RACE 9: (2)NONREFUNDABLE ran big here one year ago (2 points above today's par time). Back on dirt and dropping 50% he's the horse. (11)TIME GOES ON shows a 3rd in a 50.000 stakes up north and fits here.

NP

I don't understand, they send SWEET SWAP up with the pace after a slowish start, and this horse likes to be held up and make a run on the stretch...

race 9: (7)GENERATIONS has excuses after his 13 length victory. Overmatched in a first level allowance, then he went over turf, then routing... today back on dirt, back sprinting and dropping to the bottom he's got a chance. Stakes placed (11)TIMES GOES ON ran well at the 25000 level, fits in here. If healthy (2)NONREFUNDABLE can win this race back on dirt.

Excellent call and a handsome payoff. If that horse had ran the race he did last and his last was against winners he was 4/5. Repeated last and favorable form cycle.

The Spaniard

at this level all are professional losers, the form was the key, but I've been watching the replays and think outside better right now with so much water over the track...

The inner part of the track is deep IMO and being outside is also conducive to not getting 50lbs of mud added to horses weight.

You might be right.....

race 5

:1: Awesome Intime----love him here second off the layoff....likely to get sent hard here from the rail.Im hoping its not an outside bias....if he craps the bed here, I may be convinced of an outside and or closer bias.

race 5: the favorite hit a wall routing on the slop in Belmont after a good race sprinting on the mud... ](7)MUST HAVE closed big time (12 lenghts) sprinting over a sloppy track ( after an unusual clean trip) and breeding says ok for routing. And he's on the outside.

race 6: (1)FALDA closed 12 lengths on a sloppy track and 7 on soft turf. Trainer excells with the move 2 sprints to route (won with 5 of the last 11)therefore tonight is day X, and here there are a couple of horses with speed, possible good set up.

race 7: (3)VIKING WARRIOR, good form, shows a big win over a sloppy track, a 5f bullet just one week ago. (9)Sir Maxwell didn't improve second after the layoff and his only try on slopp (debut race) was awful, the money it's being shy. (10)Music Mogul, strong closer, winner on the mud for the exacta box with the pick
