race 1: favorite (3)TIZ A MINISTER is the best horse and ran great (closed from last to 2nd in a race with no pace) first time on the green. (1)Ebony Gold (3rd) is a cross (Mr Prospector x Giant's causeway) fine for surface versatility, and ran well at Fairplex, a dirt course where many turf horses run good races.

win & exacta

2nd ($2.10 - 2.10)

The Spaniard
01-10-2013, 04:26 PM
race 2: (1)Quick Wampum ran two awful races on dirt showing no speed at all. (2)Indycat is 0 for 11 over dirt. The speed is suspect. Professional closer (3)MAGIC MAMA knows how to win here and comes from a positive short layoff (last win was coming from a layoff).

NP

46.48 the half mile, a gift for the suspicious speed..

Race 3 - Tyler on the 6 looks like the obvious strength but 8 with the Emerald Down jockey Kubinova has a shot and could suprise all.

The Spaniard
01-10-2013, 04:59 PM
race 3: (8)RUSSEL's RUN is the speed of the field and has improved a lot after his debut race

before: 48.2
after: 50.3 > 47.0 > 46.2

with the help of Kubinova's magic and the speed bias he'll try to rise in class with success.

2nd ($6.00 - 3.30)

Nice call on the :8: guys. Got up for place between 2 favs.

with this girl up horses relax a lot. She's special.

race 4: veteran (7)CABO CHICO is an unexposed horse on dirt. He's 3 for 4 on this surface and his speed figures indicate he's a much better horse on dirt than synthetics. Today is the first time he runs over speed friendly Santa Anita, and dropping in class from State Optional 25.000 there is the possibility he runs a big race. On turf and polytrack he knows how to pass horses, here he may stalk (6)Max Cooper and run away turning for home.

2nd ($8.20 - 6.60)

race 5: favorite (9)BELLE PASSE, with a 100% turf pedigree, is just one head short of being undefeated in turf sprints. We can forgive her the route and synthetic races. A 47.3 bullet certifies she's in fine condition for an able layoff trainer. The horse to beat. (1)Funny Belle ran two strong turf allowances in Florida and can complete the exacta.

Race 6:
Would :2: Pine Walk, do the trick? Seems to like dirt over others..

The Spaniard
01-10-2013, 06:31 PM
race 6: here there is too much unidimensional speed. Favorite (1)FUNNY GAL's got tactical speed and a strong closing acceleration. The layoff looks fine after a hard second victory race. She shoul continue her progression (28 > 55 > 66...)

3rd ($3.00)

I was wrong, the speed of the speed won

The Spaniard

Iceknight, I would liked to see her working over Santa Anita dirt...

and when you see a Bob Baffert speedy at 6/1 in a race like this... the connexions didn't like his filly today.

thanks!

race 7: (1)KEY DECISION, a class horse, 3rd in the prestigious Anchorena Stakes (gr.1) looks ready to unleash his A game second after the layoff. He's a powerful frontrunner, very dangerous today if nš 4 doesn't go for him in a speed duel. (5)WILLCONQUER had a perfect sprint prep after 7 months layoff, but he came back to race again too soon. The 3f bullet says he's on his toes and ready to run his best. This is a tough call:

KEY DECISION pace was crazy for the mile and all by himself (22.1 > 45.3), this good horse has a "trainer problem".

KEY DECISION pace was crazy for the mile and all by himself (22.1 > 45.3), this good horse has a "trainer problem". They are animals..not sure if we can train them to act 100% the way we want in all situations!

The Spaniard
01-10-2013, 07:22 PM
you can't train a turf miler like a 6f dirt horse...

I move to DELTA DOWNS

The Spaniard
01-10-2013, 07:35 PM
DELTA DOWNS

race 3: Lightly raced (11)FAN THE FIRE cuts back from a mile 1/16 ran at a fast pace to 7,5f, the move seems perfect, and the blinkers go off for a trainer who does fine with this equipement change.

:6: Art Shift - value play.
(faded to 4th)

The Spaniard
01-10-2013, 08:01 PM
race 4: The track is muddy and tiring, (8)K D'S KING KONG here is the horse with more stamina (2nd on turf over 12f) and in decent form, first of the claim... maybe

2nd ($4.80 - 3.40)

The Spaniard

race 5: delicate mare (3)BLONDLEE NP ran big of a 4 months layoff and then she returned too soon (2 weeks). Now, with one month freshenning, over her preferred track condition and distance (muddy/5f) she could rebound with a good performance. Favorite (2)Sorcerer Urger (1st) for the exacta box.

race 6

:8: Whodababydaddy----was involved in a 3-way battle for the lead in last and faded.Stretch runners dominated the race.(the winner looked like it was shot out of a canon).:4: was favored and really had no excuse and as of now favored again.

I expect the :8: to control it here and wil box with :2:, an interesting longshot.

The Spaniard
01-10-2013, 08:51 PM
race 6: (8)WHODABABYDADDY ran a fine race at the 15.000 level (weakened late) and tonight returns to her true level with two 61 Beyer in a row, very dangerous with the other droppers kind of suspiciuos, more so over a tiring track.

the same boat again... I hope the movie finishes like the other day...

3rd ($3.20)

chased throughout the trip, but no excuse.

I wasnt too surprised by the winner, but the :4: running well was a surprise to me..... I viewed her as the type of declining horse I love to bet against.

The Spaniard

race 7: (9)BREONS GOLD best races have been on sloppy, muddy and turf tracks.

Exacta:

1st: 2 - 3 - 4 (1st) - 6 - 8

2nd: (9)BREONS GOLD (2nd)

$2 exacta: $72.40

The Spaniard
01-10-2013, 09:50 PM
race 8: (4)MY BELL BOY with 3 good breezes, fresh after a short layoff, with back class (plenty of 72 Beyers at a higher level) should run a fine race tonight

2nd ($3.60 - 2.20)

The Spaniard
01-10-2013, 10:15 PM
race 9: (4)IDEFROMTHEBAYOU drops from stakes company and is a winner over 12f on dirt, while the favorite comes from a hard fought victory, head to head the whole trip and may bounce a little over this tiring drying out surface, back on track just 12 days later.

win/show

2nd ($5.40 - 2.80)

he won the battle but lost the war
